YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRY SO HARD

14 July 2014

“THIN IS BEAUTIFUL” “SMILE MORE” “HAVE PERFECT SKIN” “YOU COULD BE A WHOLE LOT BETTER”

In a world of advertising, music videos, social media young people are constantly bombarded with an ideal of what it looks like to be good enough. An ideal it’s impossible to reach.

That’s why we love that Colbie Callait has used her microphone to blast out a very different message to the one we hear all too often.

You don't have to try so hard

You don't have to give it all away

You don't have to try so hard

You don't have to bend until you break

You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up

You don't have to change a single thing

Yes, Colbie! What a BRILLIANT message to shout about.

When young people realize their worth comes not from what they look like or from what others think of them, but that they are worthy because of who they are as an individual, amazing things happen in their relationships and in their lives.

Here’s what a few young people had to say about what they had discovered about their worth during their time on Romance Academy.

“Every teenager is trying to find themselves and we think that having sex is the way to do it. That’s why the Romance Academy was really important in helping me find out who I was without having to have sex.” Teenage boy from London

“When you look at your life now you can see how valuable you are.” Teenage girl from Exeter

“The confidence you learn here is different from the confidence you get when you’re drunk. It’s more real.” Teenage boy from Leeds

“I know now I can be loved and I can love myself.” Teenage girl from London

We want to see every young person have an opportunity to realize truth about themselves and what they are truly worth. Because secure people who know they are worthy of love form secure relationships in which they give love.

Let’s keep working together to make that dream a reality!

Take your make up off

Let your hair down

Take a breath

Look into the mirror, at yourself

Don't you like you?

Cause I like you
